Proper Thailand

Sawadicap!

Khorat is cool, its like proper Thailand, its not touristy at all. There are hardly any western people here which makes it quite funny for us walking about as lots of people stare over at us and wave and say hello. The Thai's are really friendly people they are nice...

I'm in the shopping mall at the moment and we have only seen one other western person in here - he was an old Aussie guy and came over and talked to us for a bit - he was cool!

I'm the only westerner in the internet cafe at the moment (Stevie and Marco are playing Pro Evolution Soccer in the arcade!) and I just turned round and this little kid was behind me staring at me! Not sure how long he's been there for! I said hello and he just laughed and ran away! This sort of thing is happening all the time so you get used to it pretty quick!

We went to an all you can eat Korean restaurant last night, it was good. Only cost 99 baht which is about 1 pound 50p.

You had to go up and get all the raw meat and vegetables that you wanted, and then they brought over hot coals and you put metal plates on them and cook your food on there yourself - it was cool!!! We cooked up loads of prawns and chicken and put noodles in the soup around the edge of the hot plate, and cabbage and spring onions and stuff - it was lush! The food was brilliant! I've never been a big fan of cabbage at home but here cooked in that soup it was great! I'm having some more of that...!

When you have a meal in Thailand there is a girl who is assigned to your table as a server. She keeps topping your beer up even if you have only drunk about 1/3 of it so basically your glass is always full! Can see that its quite easy to get drunk here! I've started drinking slow now! Stevie's Dad (despite having lived here for almost 3 years) doesn't seem to have got the hang of this last yet! He was quite entertaining last night, especially as the rest of us were pretty sober!!

Getting used to going in Tuk Tuk's, we caught 3 last night... Thats just what the Thai's do, they dont walk anywhere cos its too hot. Tuk Tuk's are a great laugh tho! All the driver's are good fun and we sort of hang out of the side as we go along!

I'm trying to learn a bit of Thai, here is what I can say so far (the spellings are probably completely wrong but this is how it sounds):

Sawadicap Hello
Cop Coon Cap Thankyou
De Mack Good
Alloy Delicious
Mai Kai Chai I dont understand
Mi Ow Cap Dont want

It doesn't get me very far but its not bad after only 2 days!

Oh here's a photo I got of a tank involved in the coup in Bangkok. Took this when I was in a taxi so its not the greatest shot ever!

None of these knocking around in Khorat tho!

Yeah it was a beaut! There are some well funny cars knocking about over here - the funniest thing is the number of people they try to get on a motorbike tho!! The Thai's are crazy on the roads!!
