Coral Bay

Coral Bay

After the full moon party we caught a taxi to the north of Ko Pha Ngan and headed for a place called Coral Bay.

The taxi driver dropped us off at 7 Eleven where we were met by a 4x4 pick up truck from the Coral Bay Bungalows where we were staying. We had to go in a 4x4 as we had reached the end of the road and it was just a rocky track for the rest of the way there!! We all crammed in the back of pick up and then went boucing along the really hilly rocky road which was quite a good laugh!!

We met up with Scott, Ricky, Dan and Omar (they had travelled to Coral Bay earlier that day) and settled in to our bungalows. Mine and Stevie's bungalow had a massive Gecko on the wall as soon as we got in there! He just stayed perfectly still though (as if we couldn't see him!) so we just left him to it and went for a beer!

Coral Bay was gorgeous! We were so close to the beach and spent our 3 days there just throwing the rocket around and snorkling! Saw loads of fish and some of the lads saw a sting ray! I missed that though was gutted...

Me, Mark and Joe also hired kayaks one day and went out to a massive rock in the sea and climbed on it! There were loads of crabs on the rock and the waves were crashing in it was cool. We also set off to another bay but it was miles away and the sea was pretty rough so we headed back - only just made it as we were real tired!!!

The food here was ace too! Sometimes it can be hard to find good food in the touristy places in Thailand, so we have a theory that when you find somewhere good you should hammer it and eat LOADS! Thats pretty much what we did for the whole 3 days, go on the beach and eat loads of really nice Thai food... and pancakes!!!

As I mentioned earlier, Coral Bay Bungalows are pretty remote. They only have electricty from a generator so its only on between 6 and 12 in the evening!!! This wasn't really a problem though, it kind of made us realise that we dont need all our mod cons as much as we though we did!

They managed to hook up the genrator to run later one night so that we could watch the England game which was cool (shouldn't have bothered really as we lost 2-0).

It was pretty funny when the lights went out too, they just faded out over about 5 secs and that was it! You had to make sure you had brushed your teeth etc before then otherwise you were in trouble!!! It was also pretty scary after the lights went out as the owners told us that there were loads of snakes and big lizards around! Marco and Joe tired to scare me when I was in our bungalow on my own one night by throwing stones, banging on the walls and making noises! I knew it was them though... = )

So we had a great 3 days at Coral Bay just chilling out, really really relaxed...
