Last week a 16 year old boy died in Sydney after getting bitten by a Brown Snake. It was really sad. The report said that "he stumbled from bushland into the middle of a suburban cricket game and died from a heart attack after he had been bitten on the hand by an Eastern Brown Snake".
Since then 3 more people have been bitten by Brown Snakes in Sydney...!
And now the experts are warning that numbers of deadly Eastern Brown Snakes have increased dramatically in Sydney due to the drought and hot weather! Uh oh!
One expert is quoted as saying "the Eastern Brown Snake loves warm weather and there are probably millions around Sydney at this time". Great one!
The Brown Snake is the second-most venomous land snake in the world (after the Inland Taipan, which also happens to live in Australia - nice!).
Having said all that, I haven't seen any, yet....
