After watching the fur seals it was time to get some food and then leave Kangaroo Island - booooooo!
It was a BRILLIANT way to spend my birthday though - I had a great time!
I love wildlife so it was ace to see so many different animals on my birthday and to get so close to them all. Definitely the best birthday I have had in years and I didn't even have an alcoholic drink!
One the way back on the ferry there was an amazing sunset which just capped a perfect day...
I love sunsets they are AWESOME!

NZ Fur Seals
After the Rocks, Rod drove the bus round the other end of the island and we went for a bit of a walk on some cliffs where we could see a large group of New Zealand Fur Seals...
They were cool too!
It was ace watching the seals climb on the rocks and swim around in the sea! We were really close to them...
One of the seals was just swimming around in a part of the ocean which was sheltered from the waves by the rocks. He was diving and trying to find fish then just swimming around on his back and messing around - he was ace!

The Remarkable Rocks
After the Koalas we had a BBQ which was pretty good and then jumped back on the bus...
Rod (our driver) took us to the Remarkable Rocks next - they were wicked!!!
Its pretty cool how these rocks are shaped from erosion over time - they form some wicked shapes.
They are right on top of a cliff too - I was messing about and pushing one and I actually felt it move a bit! Uh oh! Better not do that too hard!

They were WELL cute!
I've been lucky enough to see Koalas a few times now but I still love seeing them, they lead the most CHILLED OUT lifestyle of any animal ever!
They sleep 23 hours a day and when they are not sleeping they just munch on Eucalyptus leaves - the leaves make them stoned! You can see that this one has got red eyes if you look close enough!
He was a big fella and was really close to the ground, only about 10ft high so we could see him real well, there was a baby one further up the tree too - he was real cute - just looked like a little grey ball of fur!
They had Echindnas here too and thats the first time I have seen one of them in the wild.
This Echindna was cool - he had big spikes and looks like a proper mean hedgehog!
I kept wanting to call them Enchiladas rather than Echidnas! This Aussie fella said to me "They probably dont make good eating mate!"
But the Koalas were the best - they ROCK!!!

It was my birthday whilst I was in Adelaide and we went to Kangaroo Island!
My birthday also marked it being 6 months since I left the UK. It has gone pretty fast and I have done sooooo much amazing stuff. I have had some great experiences which I will remember for the rest of my life - and I have met some awesome people and new friends along the way!
LOADS and LOADS has happened over this time, lots of ups, some downs, but its all been interesting and good experience for me...

Parents Arrive / St Patricks Day
My Mum and Dad are in Australia now... Its awesome!
They landed in Perth and had a few days there before moving on to Adelaide.
I flew from Sydney to Adelaide to meet them there - we met up on St Patricks Day!
It was brilliant to see them as it had been almost 6 months (2 days short) since I last saw them waving goodbye at Norwich Bus Station...!
We had a great St Patrick's Day in Glenelg (where we stayed in Adelaide), went to the local Irish Pub called Dublin and had a few pints of Guiness ann watched some Irish Dancing!
After that we paddled in the sea whilst watching the sun go down over the Southern Ocean which was really spectacular!
Then we went out for a nice meal in the evening - it was really cool.

Ross Noble @ The Enmore
I went to see the comedian Ross Noble last night at the Enmore Theatre in Newtown...
It was really good - he was soooooooooo funny and had the whole audience in stitches!
I've never seen a comedian like him before as he just improvises his whole set - he has a couple of stories that he drops in - but 95% of the show is improvisation.
Ross is from Northumberland in the UK but lives in Melbourne now. He had some funny stories about moving over to Oz as an English bloke!
It was cool to hear the North East accent again too after I'd gotten so used to it at Uni... You kind of forget all the accents from home when you are over here. I met a guy with a BRILLIANT Norfolk accent the other day! I love the Norfolk accent its quality!
So Ross Noble was really good, not even one bit of the show wasn't funny - some of it was very wrong - but it was real funny! It was ace!
I'd definitely go see him again.

Woah Jellyfish!
Okay so last night I got home and went straight down the beach for a swim...
I've had a pretty busy week at work so I couldn't wait to get in there...
I put my boardies on and ran out of my house, down the street and straight to the beach.
When I got there I just kept on running and went straight into the sea and swam out pretty far.
I was having a pretty good swim and there were loads of surfers riding the big waves so I was just watching them, doing some body surfing and just swimming about.
I'm not even that good a swimmer but I went out pretty far.
I was near this Aussie surfer dude and he turned round and said to me:
"Be careful mate you dont wanna get stung..."
I was like:
"err.. what do you mean mate?"
and he said:
"There are loads of blueys!"
I took this to mean jellyfish and swam straight back to the shore.
I kind of got caught in a mini rip tide so it took a lot longer than usual to get back but I made it and walked back on to the beach.
I looked around and there were LOADS of Bluebottle Jellyfish washed up on the beach! LOADS and LOADS of them!
I didn't feel like I had been stung and I kind of checked my back and stuff and all seemed ok.
I guess I was pretty lucky...
When I came into work today I told the people I work with my 'funny story' about the jellyfish and they were all like "you were so lucky not to get stung, they are real dangerous!"
No way!
So I looked the Bluebottle jellyfish up on Wikipedia...
It turns out these jellyfish are WELL danergous!
They are also known as the Portuguese Man o War Jellyfish and it says on Wikipedia that:
"The sting from the tentacles is potentially dangerous to most humans; these stings have been responsible for several deaths, but usually only cause excruciating pain"
No way!
I guess I need to be more careful!

Livin in Bondi
This photo shows where I live in Bondi, I've been there just over 3 weeks now and its wicked...!
I love it!
Its real cool being so close to the beach...
I can walk down to the beach in under 5 minutes!
Its all still really new to me so I'm still very excited about it...
Most days I get up early and go to the beach before work... then as soon as I get home from work, I get changed real quick and run down there again for a couple of hours before it gets dark...
Its ace!
In the mornings I get out of bed at 6am, put my boardies on, brush my teeth (dental hygiene is very important!), grab my towel and leave the house...
I walk down the street barefoot and still with my hair all messy and sleep in my eyes! I look like a wally!
I get to the beach and just run in the sea straight away Baywatch style! Then I swim out a bit and take the waves on face first!
Its a good way to wake up!
Did I mention that I love it...!?!?

Stormy Sydney
There were some wicked storms here last night!
And when its stormy in Australia, its proper stormy!
It has been really sunny all weekend, hardly a cloud in the sky... and then last night the electrical storm hit - lots of really loud thunder and then loads of lightening too!
It was pretty cool! I love storms!

Melbourne
I went to Melbourne yesterday 'on business' !
How cool is that...?!?
This photo is the building where our Melbourne office is based - it was very impressive!
We flew down on the 7:00am flight which meant I had to get up pretty early (got a taxi from Bondi to Sydney airport at 5:30am).
It was a wicked day though and very productive work-wise...
We got delayed flying back to Sydney as there were some serious storms which shut the airport down for a bit.
I worked all day and so only really got to see Melbourne in the taxis to and from the airport. We went out for lunch in China Town too which was pretty cool so I got to see that...
It looks like I may be going on a couple more trips to Melbourne with work in the next few weeks so hopefully I'll get to check it out a bit more.

The Following Friday...

Anyway so the following Friday we had the ‘Firm Wide Drinks’. This is where our company kindly lays on free drinks and canapés (!) one Friday every month.
It was class!
We had a couple of beers in the office at about 4.30pm (as usual on a Friday) and then headed down for the Firm Wide thing.
It all started off fairly reserved. We had a few drinks and messed around a bit. Lauren had her camera out again which should have been a BIG RED WARNING SIGN after the previous week. However, I chose not to worry about that and just got stuck into the free beer instead…!
We stayed there until about 8pm and then left and caught a bus to another pub. We were the only people on the bus which was good really as it was at this point that I realised we were pretty lashed!
In the next pub we got pretty lairy, doing shots and drinking loads more beers (and Bloody Mary’s – randomly!).
Then we went to a club and it all got a bit hazy. We all hit the dance floor and basically took it over.
Pon and I managed to find some Sombreros in the club (no idea how!) and so were wearing them! We looked so cool!
Then all the girls fell over the drum kit which was set up in the corner and we got thrown out! Quality!
We went to another pub/club after that and carried on the party.
So it was a top night…
Then came Monday. Yep, you’ve guessed it… LOADS more drunk photos of me being sent around the office. That’s 2 weeks running - awesome…
However, it’s not too bad.
I was by no means the worst (didn’t fall over a drum kit!) and all my new work mates are well up for going out and getting lashed so it’s all good!

Work Nights Out

"Make sure you dont go out and get really drunk with everyone within the first few weeks"
Now that was a good plan...
However, it didn't really turn out that way...
At the end of my second week we all went out for few drinks on the Friday night. I was only going to stay for a couple and then head back to Bondi to meet my mate James and go for a run and a swim (full of good intentions).
BUT it was a really good in the pub and my new work mates are a top laugh! We were playing pool and it was good fun. So I ended up staying all night and getting smashed.
Unfortunately for me, Lauren from my team, had brought her digital camera out with her and took about a MILLION photos of me. I wasn't even that drunk but the photos tell a different story.
Then on Monday morning, Lauren sent the drunk photos all round work! Great one! And I made it into the company newsletter saying I had "settled in well"...
Excellent! That was exactly the professional image I was trying to convey in my first few weeks of work!

Football/Soccer Down Under
I’ve been playing quite a bit of football since I arrived in Australia.
At first I just played at Coogee with all my mates, all the English and Irish lads that I know. So that was cool, just the same as playing back home really (except a bit hotter!).
However, now I am working I have started playing football with loads of Aussies (they call it soccer – I’m sticking to calling it football!).
Now this is a bit different...
First, there are the crazy rules that they play.
I played in one game and instead of actually taking corners, they just counted the number of corners a team conceded. When a team had conceded 3 corners the other team got to have a ‘penalty shot’. I had no idea what a ‘penalty shot’ was but soon found out. They stopped the game, took the ball to the other end and one guy from our team had a shot into an open net from the other end of the pitch (what the…?).
Pretty weird eh? He missed by a MILE too!
And then there is the crazy stuff that they say when you are playing.
In that same game, one guy kept saying “Yeah, do it baby, do it!” whenever one of our team was closing in on goal. It kind of put me off my game…
I play in an indoor 5 a side game too. It’s mixed teams and it’s like 5 a side but with different rules. They have 5 team fouls like in Basketball. If you go over this then the other team get a penalty.
There are loads of other rules too, involving lines you have to stand behind for throw ins etc. I haven't figured them all out yet I just wait for the ref to tell me off!
This game is pretty good fun though, I like it!
I have played twice so far and the first game we won 3-0 (2 goals from me) and the second game we won 13-0 (7 goals from me).
The 13-0 was one goal short of the highest score in that indoor league ever.
After the game one of the girls on our team emailed me saying she is “pumped for the getting that soccer record next week!!”
What…!?!??!?!

Skateboarders at Bondi
There is a big skatepark right on the beach at Bondi... Its pretty cool.
I went down there on Sunday night and soon realised that Sunday night must be 'Skate Night'!
There were loads of skateboarders at the park and they were all really good!
They were pulling some wicked tricks and there was a big crowd watching them all.
This weekend there is a big competition down there and some pro skaters from the US are going to be there. Think I might head down and watch a bit of that...

Lairyness on a Different Scale
There were some mad people at Good Vibrations!
It was pretty hard to get a drink (long queues for the bar) so lets just say some people found other ways to get in the spirit!

Good Vibrations
I went to the Good Vibrations festival in Sydney at the weekend - it was class!
It was a really sunny day so I spent a couple of hours on Bondi Beach with my mates James and Lisa before heading over to Centennial Park for Good Vibes!
I went to The Roots tent first and watched Nightmares on Wax - who were wicked!
After that I buzzed about for a bit and met up with Ads, Tim, Jules, Paul, Danny and everyone else. We were all having a laugh!
Watched a bit of Sneaky Sound System on the main stage who were good too...
Then we went back to The Roots tent to watch Jurassic 5 - the tent was packed though (mega busy!) and real hot so we had to get out after a while! We just listened to them outside for a bit after that...
Then it was the main event as Snoop was playing on the main stage!
He was awesome!
We stayed at the back for a bit but then Danny and I bombed right down the front which was a top laugh - we were only about 10 yards from Snooooooooooooooooooooooop! he was so cool and the crowd were going mad!
Snoop was definitely the highlight of the day for me but after that the Beastie Boys played on the main stage. I watched them for a bit which was good (Snoop came back on stage with them too) but I also went and watched the last bit of DJ Yoda in one of the dance tents (and grabbed some food - was hank marvin!).
So it was a quality day!
It was a really sunny day so I spent a couple of hours on Bondi Beach with my mates James and Lisa before heading over to Centennial Park for Good Vibes!
I went to The Roots tent first and watched Nightmares on Wax - who were wicked!

New Job/First Aussie Pay Cheque!
I'm in my 3rd week of work now and got paid on Friday - get in!
I needed that! I have spent an absolute fortune in the 5 months I've been away!
But I have also been having a wicked time, have loads of new friends and have had some amazing experiences - so its all been worth it!
I've learnt LOADS too - LOADS and LOADS!
Lots of 'Life Experience' which will stand me in good stead for the future I'm sure!
The new job is going well. I'm working as an internet consultant for one of the 'Big Four' and have an amazing view of the Opera House from my desk so its going pretty well.
All my new work mates are cool! We went out on the lash on Friday night which was a top laugh! Think we are doing that again this Friday too!
Having money again is good! I've splashed quite a bit of it already since I've been paid so better calm down a bit - I need to make it last till next month...!

Monster Shark in Sydney!
Okay, I know I have put quite a bit of stuff on here before about sharks, but its in the news again!
Apparently a monster shark was spotted just offshore in Sydney's southern beaches at 8.30am this morning...
Reports have said its "up to 15 feet" and that "it's been getting closer and more aggressive"...!
A separate report claims the shark has been around for a couple of weeks now and that it has already eaten a dog and a pelican! Hope he's full!
I've said this before but I'm going to say it again - - when I was watching TV back in England I'm sure they said that shark sightings and attacks were supposed to be fairly rare in Australia... It seems like its on the news every week now that I'm here!
